Bernice
Chitiul, a soprano taught by Suzanne
Murphy and coached by Michael Pollock, is a recent graduate of a Masters Degree in Opera Performance
Course at RWCMD, Cardiff where she was a holder of a Leverhulme scholarship.
She gave her first
recital at the Wigmore
Hall in 2013, followed in other venues
such as St. Marys Perivale, at Queen Elisabeth Hall in 2015 and the Clothworkers
Hall in
2016. Among other prizes she has won Best Female Voice Award in The Emmy Destinn Young Singers Awards competition,
the Ann Lampard Trophy and The Geraldine Wensley Trophy at the Godalming Music Festival, all in 2015. Teachers Tom Marandola, Margaret Humphrey Clark, John Evans and Suzanne Murphy assisted
and influenced her up until she joined RWCMD.
Since 2014 she has
coordinated her own chamber ensemble Berliozya and in
addition to studio compositions she composes vocal and instrumental music. Her
vocal compositions have been performed by the EXHAUDI vocal ensemble in two consecutive years at the City Summer Festival, London: Crashing Waves, in 2016 and
Trust is All We Need, in 2017. She reached the final live rounds of X
Factor Romania in
2012 and participated in the final Romanian
Eurovision National
Selections in 2011, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
